A lot of people throughout Toronto and the rest of Canada have a habit of “spring cleaning.” Spring cleaning is essentially a burst of cleaning that occurs after the winter has finally let go. During the past several winters, the temperatures have been extremely cold, the snow has been intense, and spring can’t seem to come soon enough for most people.
Being able to open the windows, throw open the doors, bring stuff out and begin dusting from top-down helps people feel more refreshed and rejuvenated.
These bursts of cleaning may be a great way to improve the quality of air inside the house and help the emotional aspect of their home environment, but what about the rest of the year? Far too many people get into the habit of doing burst cleaning, rather than regular cleaning that will make it less necessary to do those burst style cleanings.
A lot of people are busy with their full-time jobs and other responsibilities and might not see the opportunity to actually get down and clean on a regular basis. Here are a few tips that can help you and others within your house develop a better habit of keeping their home environment clean on a regular basis.
Clean one room at a time. If you get home on a Monday, for example, focus on taking care of the kitchen. This would include wiping down the countertops, scrubbing the refrigerator, cleaning up the sink, and maybe even the windows. Just doing one room each day should only take 15 to 20 minutes at a time, and then general maintenance and upkeep each other day (making the bed, putting dirty laundry away, cleaning the dishes, etc.) will avoid the necessity of burst cleaning.
Don’t neglect window frames, ceiling fans, or door frames. Whenever you clean the room, wipe the surfaces down with a damp cloth or an ionic charged dust cloth to remove the dust there.
Get your carpets professionally cleaned every six months, at least. When you have your carpets professionally cleaned, it reduces the amount of dust, dirt, allergens, and other pollutants that get into the air. This will help to keep your home much cleaner.
