During the winter, keeping your home clean can be an overwhelming challenge, especially if you have a lot of people in your home. If you have children, the challenges can increase exponentially.
What are some of the greatest challenges of keeping carpets clean during winter?
Obviously the first would be mud, salt, and sand from the roads after snowfall that can get tracked in on boots. The salt and sand can be incredibly harmful to your carpets and other floor surfaces. Sand is abrasive so you could end up with scratching on hardwood floor surfaces. Salt is also corrosive and, when it gets on your plush carpeting, it can cause damage deep down at the base of the carpeting itself.
Some of the other challenges can include the fact most windows and doors are sealed tight during the winter. You’re not getting fresh air inside, and when you have some kind of cloth or other fabric, most people already understand how a lack of fresh air and cleanliness can lead to an interesting aroma, for lack of a better expression or term.
What can you do to help this winter?
Instead of being resigned to the fact your carpets and, in general, entire home is going to look worse and worse as winter wears on, schedule or at least consider a professional carpet cleaning service sometime in January or February. That puts you in the middle of winter and a good time to feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and inspired to continue the effort to keep your home clean until you get around to that spring cleaning season once again.
