Your drapery may be sitting there, untouched for years. You haven’t taken them down to wash them, and haven’t even thought twice about it. It doesn’t seem to make sense, right? After all, they just sit there.
Your drapery doesn’t get dirty, does it?
Unless you have kids running around with drinks in their hand, food on their fingers, grabbing your drapes, or little kittens climbing up those drapes, they don’t really need to be cleaned, do they? After all, how much dirt could they actually attract?
Let’s try an experiment.
On the next, extremely sunny day, open all the blinds and curtains in your house, and when the sun is pouring through those windows, smack all of your curtains, all of your couch cushions, and stomp over all of your carpets. Step back, at an angle to the light entering the room, and see how much dust is floating through the air. You may be surprised.
It could look like a veritable blizzard inside your house. Now, once everything settles down, try that again with just your drapes. You will see a ton of dust floating through the air.
All of that dust that floats in the air is happening all the time. The more activity you have going on in your house, the more dust is getting kicked up. It’s settling on your couches, shelves, coffee table, curtains and drapes.
That’s why it’s a good idea to have your drapes cleaned regularly.
That can be a significant project.
To take down your drapes can be a chore. You don’t have to do that, though. If you have your carpets professionally cleaned every six months, which is highly recommended, have your drapes cleaned at the same time by the same company. With the right technique and equipment and cleaning solutions, your drapes can remain clean and in the best condition possible for you, your house, and your family for many years into the future.
