You have an office with more than three dozen employees. When you were building this office, you were given the choice of having ceramic tile flooring with small area rugs that would be positioned under the desk to help provide some comfort and relief to your employees when they were working throughout the day or wall-to-wall carpeting.
You chose the wall-to-wall carpeting because you assumed that would be a much better looking, comfortable setting, and you are right. It also helps to reduce noise levels and echo. However, that carpeting can be trapping a lot of things in it that are difficult for a regular vacuum to pick up. Here are four of those things that could be hiding in your commercial carpeting.
1. Paperclips and other desk items.
People are going to drop staples and paper clips on a regular basis. When a staple gets caught in the carpeting, it’s very difficult to get back out. Once that staple works around one part of the carpet fiber, not even the strongest residential style vacuum is going to get it up.
2. Coffee.
Many people drink coffee in the morning to help them wake up and feel recharged for the day. Occasionally some of that coffee is going to be spilled from the coffee pot in the breakroom to their desk. If you have a darker carpet, it’s not going to show up, but it will work its way deeper into the carpet pile, causing potential problems later on.
3. Dirt.
Not only dirt but road salt during the winter. You likely won’t see a lot of this when you have darker colored carpeting that you chose to keep the dirt from showing up. It’s still there and likely the vacuum won’t be enough to get it up.
4. Allergens.
Whenever you open the windows or doors, pollutants and allergens are getting in. Those allergens can also carry in on people’s clothing and then filter down into the carpeting. Every time somebody walks over the carpeting, they will be kicking up those allergens into the air, creating a lower quality of air within the office itself.
What’s the solution? Have a professional carpet cleaning service maintain those carpets on a regular basis. This could include cleaning the carpets once a month, especially if they get a lot of use.
