You invested a great deal of money renovating your kitchen recently. Those granite countertops were the pièce de résistance in your kitchen. You were so proud of it and even though you’ve been able to enjoy this kitchen, and those granite countertops, for several months, you realize how important it is to keep them in great condition.
One way to maintain those granite countertops for as long as possible is to wipe them down after every use. This includes any time you make a sandwich and there are crumbs that dribble over the plate, whenever water, juice, or other beverages are spilled on it, and when you prepare meals.
There are plenty of reasons you should wipe down these granite countertops, and here are three of them.
1. Granite is porous.
Even though it looks incredibly hard, it is actually porous. This means any water, chicken juice, or other fluids can work their way down into those pores where they can get trapped and create nightmares in the future.
2. It’s a good habit to get into.
Even though you might wipe down the area you’re working at, you never know what gets onto the corners or even under different items. When you get into the habit of wiping down your granite countertops, moving everything to cover every square inch, you will eventually develop a good habit that can translate into caring for other rooms in the house as well.
3. You’ve made a significant investment.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s granite, faux granite, an entertainment center, or anything else in your home, when you invest money in various items, you want to protect them as long as possible.
However, it’s human nature to begin letting things go after you’ve had them for a while. Keep reminding yourself of the investment you’ve made in these granite countertops and that should help inspire you to keep wiping them down on a daily basis. That will also reduce the amount of dust that collects on other areas of your house, including your carpets.
